Sobek festivals! Because there just aren’t enough of them.
Adding to this list, in ‘Sobek of Shedet’ (2010, p129), Marco Zecchi cites a NK Sobek Shedety festival for I Akhet 11, in which no one worked, and refrained from eating fish and bread, as well as possibly other foods sacred to Him. This was cited as an unfavourable day, and Sobek in this case was more of a rapacious god than a more beneficient one.

Sobek is well in touch with his reptilian side, the core of the brain of all animal life, brought forth from prehistory by way of the crocodile, the only surviving dinosaur. Perhaps it’s why He will never fully take ‘human’ aspect, which is great for me. My personal thought is that i what He is serving to remind us of, that the reptilian core is part of us, no matter what. I just finished and am re-reading Marco Zecchi’s Sobek of Shedet. He is also a selfish God, and is pretty hardcore in chasing away other Gods from my personal experience, but I’m okay with that, since He is my Spiritual Father. I get a lot of good information from your page. Keep up the good work.
