30 Days of Sobek: Day 7 – Names and Epithets

Hang on to your hats, this is gonna get long. I have done some more LAGG translations, and so now my list is even longerereror. D: It is a great way to practice my German skillz, though. Thanks, duolingo. :D?

This is going to be quite a long entry, because I’ve done some more LAGG translations, and after 290 or so days with German on duolingo, I am better at parsing out translations than I was before, so. I’m not perfect at it, but I’m better at picking out the google translate meaning than I used to be.

The first list are all the epithets I gathered from Marco Zecchi’s book, Sobek of Shedet: The Crocodile God in the Fayyum in the Dynastic Period (2010). It’s a very interesting book, and reading it shone a big light on Sobek and the Faiyum, and how to create and build this regional cultus thing. I sorted the epithets into groups, just for some sort of cohesion.

From the LAGG
So, this next list is from the LAGG, comprising of pages 627-629 of Sobek’s pages. I’ve had page 627 checked by someone who knows German better than me, but not 628 or 629, though I am 80-90% sure they are right. If anyone’s willing to double-check them for me, please let me know. I want to make sure these are accurate. (And yes, I have my original translations with the German I can send, I ain’t daft.)

Also, there may be some duplicates with the Zecchi list, but I haven’t weeded them out, so apologies if you come across any that are in both lists.
