This site needs a new home

Honestly, I was going to come here and post a hymn to Sobek I’d written, only to find that this new unified navigation has turned up and now my wp-admin dashboard is unnavigable, confusing, and impossible to use. I’ve thought about moving the site before, when the block editor came and they deprecated the classic editor, because I find the block editor impossible to use and far too bright and hard on my eyes.

I’m conscious of wanting to make all my rituals and hymns and such accessible to everyone, and I’m probably not going to delete this site, just keep it as an archive, but I’m not sure where to move to that will make it easy to keep these resources available for everyone while also giving me a place to blog. I’m not sure what the solution is yet. I’m not averse to paying for something good that’s going to do the job for me, but I’d rather not at this stage, and the blogging landscape has changed so, so much since I last looked into this sort of thing. So this will stay for now, but there will be a new home somewhere because I can’t keep using a site that keeps making it harder and harder for me to use.

Prayers that I can find the right solution for this and find Per Sebek a new home. ❤

Wow, I wonder if this is true of every site that uses the Word press, or is it different for people that import this programming into their own website domain? Maybe they have more control??? (I think I’ll stick with my circa 1998 notepad html-ing, no surprises, as it’s always the same….)

It’s for wordpress.com hosted sites as far as I can tell. The self-hosted wordpress.org sites are a different thing. I’m working on shifting this to a self-hosted site at the moment, just because WordPress does everything I need it to do, it just has a terrible back end I can’t use right now. So Fingers crossed I can get that set up properly so I don’t have to rebuild this site entirely from scratch.

  2. I don’t blame you. I haven’t blogged on WordPress in a couple of years, decided to pull it up and give it a try again a couple of weeks ago, only to discover that the classical editer is finally gone and dead.

I’ve been told that the classic block is the closest one will get to a classic editer, but I haven’t had a chance to really try out keyboard shortcuts for the damned block editer. I’m dreading giving it a go, to be perfectly honest.

Sad thing is, there is no other blogging platform that is as good as what WordPress used to be, accessibility wise. Yes, I have a Tumblr, but it’s too clunky to use a primary website/blog. Little posts are alright over there, but doing any kind of major blogging is a right pain.

Anyway, I wish you luck finding a new home!

Yeah, it’s hard now bc WordPress does everything I want it to do, it’s just the back-end at wp.com is terrible. I’m currently experimenting with self-hosted wordpress, if only bc I can get a proper wp-admin and classic editor to use, so we’ll see how that pans out. ❤ I haven't had a self-hosted wordpress blog for around a decade so I'm very rusty, but I think I can get it to work. 😀
