Festival of the Half-Month

Festival of the Half-Month:

House of Khonsu, House of Bast, House of Djehuty

Items/Tools:
– shrine
– image of Khonsu, Bast*, and Djehuty (* or any other Eye goddess)
– a small image of Ma’at
– one libation bowl
– libations
– anointing oil
– incense and candles and matches

The Rite:
0) Approach the shrine and offer henu.

1) Anoint your brow with a dab of oil/perfume/water/etc and say:
I am pure, I am pure, I am pure, I am pure.
May I be bathed in the scent of the gods.

2) Light candles/shrine lamps and say:
Recieve the light, o gods, receive the light
Come to the shrine, o gods, and receive the light.

3) Light incense and say:
Sweet is the incense on the flame, o gods, sweet is the incense on the flame.
Come to the shrine, o gods, come to the shrine, sweet is the incense on the flame.

4) Offer henu, and recite a hymn:
Hail to you gods who dwell in daylight,
Hail to you gods who dwell in the night,
Hail to you gods at the half-month,
Hail to you, Khonsu, protector, defender, who shines with lunar light.
Hail to you, Bast, Eye of Ra, flame of Ra, who basks in sunlight.
Hail to you, Djehuty, keeper of time, Lord of Ma’at,
Hail to you three at this time, when things are in balance.
Hail to you at the cusp of the month,
Hail to you as I come to make ritual with you.

5) Offer water.
It is pure, it is pure, it is pure, it is pure.
This libation is for you, O Khonsu.
May you be cooled, may you be cooled.
May you be cooled, may you be coooled.

This libation is for you, O Bast.
May you be cooled, may you be cooled.
May you be cooled, may you be coooled.

This libation is for you, O Djehuty.
May you be cooled, may you be cooled.
May you be cooled, may you be coooled.

6) Offer incense and anoint the statue with oil, if you have one.
The incense of the gods comes towards you.
The perfume of the gods comes towards you.
The perfume of the Eye of Heru comes towards you.
The perfume of Nekhbet, coming forth from Nekheb,
It adorns you, it washes over you.

7) Meditate, make petitions, sing hymns, recite mantras, do magic, whatever you need to do.

8) Revert libations.
May I drink in your wisdom, O Gods.
May this water sustain me as it sustains you.

9) Offer Ma’at.
Ma’at comes to you, O Khonsu.
Ma’at comes to you, O Bast,
Ma’at comes to you, O Djehuty,
She is established everywhere you are,
She is established everywhere She desires to be.

10) Offer henu and close:
Hail to you, O Khonsu, I am purified,
Hail to you, O Bast, I am purified,
Hail to you, O Djehuty, I am purified,
and I have made these rituals with you
on this day, on the festival of the half-month.
May you look favourably upon me,
and be at peace with me.

11) Extinguish candles, and remove the foot.
