Happy Solstice!

I hope you’ve all had a wonderful Solstice, and that your celebrations have been filled with joy and peace. ❤ We had our Yule Feast tonight, and I thought I’d be ~innovative~ and take a video of the decorations before dinner started. So Enjoy our festive winter decorations. ❤

30 Days of Sobek Meme will be back tomorrow, now that the Yule Feast is done. Also, I actually need to find something for day 23, and write something for today. So give me a few hours tomorrow, and I might come up with something half-decent.

ALSO ALSO. This is your ONE WEEK TO GO PSA. The Sobek Devotional opens for submissions in ONE WEEK. 8D I hope you have all been preparing things for me, because I am ready to receive them, and begin making this devotional a reality. 😀 😀 😀

Solstice Blessings!

Hello. Yes, I am still alive. So, summer solstice on Wednesday here in Perth was 42C/107F, which was just the best day (not) and why I hate summer this heat is appalling. So I didn’t do any ritual because who has the energy to do ritual when it’s that fkn hot? Not me. But I did ritual yesterday morning, with a bunch of other ADF solitaries, watching a livestream of a winter solstice ritual, so that scratched my ritual itch for now.

I’m still in that stage of figuring stuff out, but I’m closer to done than I was before, and I’ve done morning ritual to Sobek-Heru today for the first time in a long time. I also built a shrine for Isis, and it sits on the southern wall. I’ll do full shrine postings and photos at a later date, probably in January once the dust has settled. Maybe I’ll even do a full room tour, though I’ll have to do some cleaning first, I have stuff everywhere right now, and that won’t change once Christmas and my birthday hits. But that’s a job for later.

Happy Solstice!

I had a lovely ritual tonight with Hekate Kourotrophos to mark the winter solstice. I’m beginning to understand why the blade is important to me, but it’s just niggling thoughts at the moment. Hekate Kourotrophos is very … blunt. But I like Her. And I do volunteer for Save the Children here in Australia, which is right up Her alley. So donations in Her name were suggested, which makes sense to me. I’ll write up the ritual on my DP blog later, but for now, have a little dodgy phone camera video of my shrine from tonight’s ritual.

I wish you a blessed and peaceful Solstice. May the gods be with you. ❤

Solstice Blessings!

I’m way behind on my Solstice preparations. But then I’m way behind on a lot of things, ngl. Christmas does that to me, I think, when I have to buy presents for several people, and catch up with all the shit I didn’t get around to doing because I was working full time. But anyway.

I think Solstice will be short and sweet this time. It’s meant to be 38C/100.4F tomorrow, and I can’t with lengthy complicated rituals in that sort of heat, particularly not if they involve candles. At least only four of my DP High Day rituals need to be COoR, and I’ve already done two of those, so I’ll take my leave to do something simple. I do have a simple liturgy I bodged up a while back that just involves water and I may do that instead. It may end up just being a general Theoi one, because I don’t have enough time to focus on writing something for any particular deity.

I am going away on Boxing Day (Dec 26), though, catching an 8am flight, so there’s a lot more on my mind right now than just Christmas. We’re going to Tasmania to have Christmas with my brother and his family, before having a holiday for the rest of the time we’re here.

I’ll also be closing Shedety Scriptorium on etsy, just while I’m away, and open it back up when I get home on Jan 6. Well. It might be Jan 7. But you get the idea. I’ve set up a shop blog over at shedetyscriptorium.wordpress.com, which I’ll be doing some work on when I get back. I ran out of paid work, and while I have some free time on my hands, I want to get working on my shop again. And hopefully avoid having to go back on the dole, which is not fun and I already had four years of that shit I do not want to do that again, so. Shop it is, for now. I’ve got some mini shrine boxes under way, Kemetic and Hellenic, and some beads to make, as well as make a few more books, so that’ll be January’s project. More on that in the New Year.

Happy Solstice!

Solstice offering to Heru-sa-Aset that used up the last of my gold paint gdi. Depicts the Eye of Heru. NGL, resisted the urge to give it feet as well as arms.

Solstice offering to Heru-sa-Aset that used up the last of my gold paint gdi. Depicts the Eye of Heru. NGL, resisted the urge to give it feet as well as arms. Shorthand glyphs in the top left corner represent ‘Heru, Lord of the Two Lands’. I think you can figure out an ankh and an infinity symbol.

I shouldn’t feel like Solstice crept up on me, because I knew last week I needed to prepare, and I did fuck all, because I am clever, and did everything at the last minute like I normally do. IDK why I pretend I can actually prepare in advance anymore. But anyway. Solstice happened. Got my rituals done. Feeling good about all that. There’s a soft lingering scent in the air, too; incense I burn doesn’t usually stick around this long, but it’s nice. I’m taking that as a sign that the gods accepted the rite and the offerings.

The solstice was meant to happen at about 7am today (WAST, on the 22nd), which I promptly slept through (because who wants to get up at 7am for a long ritual? Not me!). But I’d decided to do my rituals during the day, rather than at night, so I spent last night preparing. Got the shrine all set up, picked out the offerings, did a painting (see above), etc. The plan was to do the ritual almost first thing, but I woke with a migraine, so fuck that. There was house cleaning and shopping for Christmas to do anyway, so I didn’t get around to it until about 4pm, in which I hurriedly wrote out my offering hymn and statement of purpose before I got started. But that’s alright. It went fine, though I think I did rush it a little. I need to remember to slow down when I’m doing ritual.

Also, I really, really need to get around to posting the Kemetic ADF style ritual structure I use, because I think I said that I’d do that last Solstice, and I haven’t, so. I’ll also post the two Solstice hymns I’ve written, since they’re kinda cool, and I like them anyway.

Have a cut, because rambly post is a bit rambly, and not entirely on-topic.

Hymns for Sobek and Heru

I’ve started keeping a little 6inx8in sketchbook as a devotional art/prayer book thing for Heru and Sobek. It’s a smaller Strathmore journal, like the one I’m using for my epic big calendar thing, though it’s just bog standard sketching paper rather than Bristol board. I picked it over other journals because the cover has a pattern on it that reminds me of crocodile skin. It seemed appropriate. 😛

Art had been pouring out of me lately, as well as writing, so I’m taking this as a good sign that the Muses have been about lately, giving me Their gifts. That, and I’ve finally got over the burnout from writing ~60k that Harlequin fic in three weeks back in April or sommat. o.O? *collapses* Or, IDK, perhaps doing all those SDF rites has awoken up all my artistic creativity or something? *MAKES ALL THE ARTZ!*

But that’s for another post, I think. It’s a bit late to get a couple of pages scanned in, but I’ve filled about fourteen pages in about a week, with both art and writings. Been pondering Solstice!Heru as well, and getting some Heruakhety vibes. I’ve been connecting better with Heru lately, as well, since I was going to honour Him at Solstice and whatnot. Like, actually feeling Heru’s presence, slight and subtle that it is. More than once. And knowing it’s really Him. It’s like I finally found the right frequency, and He’s been coming in strong at last. So clearly I’m getting somewhere!

(I feel like I should make some sort of snide comment about how this wouldn’t be a problem if there weren’t +ELEBENTY different Herus to deal with, but…)
